Abstract | El conocimiento de la microbiota intrigó a los científicos desde el inicio de su
descubrimiento. Estos microorganismos que habitan en los seres humanos no podían
ser más que pequeños acompañantes a lo largo de la vida, ... El conocimiento de la microbiota intrigó a los científicos desde el inicio de su descubrimiento. Estos microorganismos que habitan en los seres humanos no podían ser más que pequeños acompañantes a lo largo de la vida, sino que su influencia tenía que ir más allá. Tal es así que los estudios sobre la microbiota fueron incrementándose cada vez más, incluyendo la última década donde se acentuó aún más. A lo largo del trabajo se irá estudiando esa influencia indudable que la microbiota debía tener con el hospedador y que se ha ido descubriendo y perfeccionando a lo largo de los años. En concreto, el trabajo se centrará tanto en la modulación de la salud como de la enfermedad, llegando a ser incluso agentes causales principales de determinadas patologías debido a su amplia relación con mecanismos fisiológicos determinantes como son el sistema inmune, endocrino o nervioso. Todos los avances cada día abren enormes caminos de investigación, no solo en el conocimiento de la etiología de dichas enfermedades sino en su cura y prevención a través de la modulación de la microbiota con el uso de distintas técnicas que van a superar a los tratamientos con fármacos convencionales. |
