With the great industrial andvances and the increasingly pressing environmental problems that society must face, waste management is currently a major issue, and will undoubtedly continue to be for future generations. Among all types of exysting waste, nuclear waste, and, in particular, high-level radioactive waste (basically, spent fuel from nuclear power plants), stand out especially due to its potential danger and environmental impact. The aim of this research is to analyze and compare the different options that are currently used to carry out the management of high-level radioactive waste, in addition to explaining various techniques that are still in the development and research phase. To do this, all available bibliographic information will be used and an economic analysis of the different possible courses of action will be carried out and a global comparative of what management options are carried out in different countries of the world.
