Caracterización de pacientes epilépticos mediante el electroencefalograma

Abstract

En este estudio se realizarán pruebas y diversas medidas de parámetros sobre señales electroencefalográficas de pacientes con epilepsia intratable. Con ello se busca detectar con la mayor eficacia posible la ocurrencia de un ataque epiléptico gracias al conocimiento de cómo varian ciertos parámetros en este tipo de señales cuando el paciente sufre convulsiones. Esto permitirá, además, maximizar el tiempo entre la detección de la crisis y el comienzo de la misma, ganando tiempo de actuación para poder aplicar algún fármaco. Por último, se pretende conocer cuánto tiempo antes podríamos detectar la crisis antes de que ocurra.

In this study, we will perfome numerous tests and measurements of parameters on electroencephalographic signals from patients with intractable epilepsy. The aim is to detect as efficiently as possible the occurrence of an epileptic seizure observing how certain parameters vary in this type of signals when the patient suffers seizures. This will also allow maximizing the time between the detection of the crisis and the beginning of it, so we will have more time to act, maybe applying a drug. Finally, we want to know how many time we need to detect the crisis before it happens.
