Las colecciones artísticas como recurso educativo y de investigación El caso del patrimonio histórico artístico de la Universidad de Sevilla

Abstract

Algunas universidades españolas y extranjeras cuentan con un rico patrimonio de carácter histórico, cultural, natural y científico. Gran parte de estas colecciones tuvieron su origen en la metodología de ciertas disciplinas científicas, generando un fondo de piezas de claro sentido didáctico, que han convivido con otras de diversos tipos. La continua renovación sufrida por las enseñanzas, a lo largo del tiempo, motivó que algunos de estos bienes perdieran su función pedagógica y que los de mayor valor pasaran a ser expuestos en los denominados “museos universitarios.” La Universidad de Sevilla cuenta con ricas colecciones de estas piezas, siendo el objetivo de este artículo el análisis de la situación de su patrimonio histórico artístico, enfatizando en particular sobre la importancia del papel desarrollado para la formación de los artistas, la existencia de dichos bienes culturales. En la actualidad, el patrimonio es considerado un recurso educativo y de investigación de alto nivel.

Some Spanish and foreign universities have a rich historical, cultural, natural and scientific heritage. Most of these collections had their origin in the methodology of certain scientific disciplines, creating a variety of pieces of clear didactic sense that have lived with others of different types. The continuous renewal underwent by the teachings, through the years, led to some of these assets to lose its pedagogical function and that those of higher value were exposed in the so-called “university museums." The University of Seville has rich collections of these pieces. Given the magnificent collection of these pieces, the aim of this paper is the analysis of the situation of the historical artistic heritage, emphasizing in particular the important role of the artists’ formation on the existence of this cultural property. Currently, the heritage is considered a high level research and educational resource.
