This study approach the relationship among the type of documentation, performance outcomes (time and accuracy), access to documentation and user's perceptions in learning a score editor program. An empirical study was carried out with university music students (n=30) with both low and no previous computer-use experiences. One group was given a minimal print manual. The other one was given a hypermedia manual, which had procedural information in video format, both created by the researcher. Results show group using hypermedia (MH) manual employed less time in training sessions, scored better in near and far transfer tasks and accessed less their manual than minimal print manual group (MI). Moreover, MI group had preferred to study with hypermedia manual more than group MH with print manual.
