In the initial training curriculum states that prospective teachers must acquire teaching competences to promote the development of key competences in primary school students. What teachers consider teaching competences that are necessary to facilitate the learning of key competences of students? To address this question, we conducted a study with a sample of 286 teachers in active, using a questionnaire developed for this purpose, whose data were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis and factorial. The results show that teachers value teaching capacity to promote motivation, effort and responsibility of students as most necessary for the development of key competences. On the other hand, considered less necessary competence to teach a foreign language. Not detected a transversal approach of teaching competencies, parallel to the inclusiveness of key competences in the school curriculum. Finally, we present some implications for the initial teacher education.
