Major changes in industrial societies have led to the extension of the practice of sports through different uses and sports models. The aim of this paper is to study descriptively the social use of the various types of sports models. To obtain information related to this subject, we have used the 2010 Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS) survey “Sports Habits in Spain IV”. The results show two important dimensions that define the different sports models. The first dimension is based on how to organize sports, and the second dimension defines the instrumentality of sports practices. The analysis also shows three different models of sport practices: the competition model, which has antagonistic characteristics; the beauty and health model, which has narcissistic characteristics, and the entertainment model, which is driven by a kind of hedonistic motivation
