Un poeta español en la Corte de Viena: Weltanschauung y antipetrarquismo en Cristóbal de Castillejo

Abstract

In the article, the authoress focuses on an analysis of one of the most representative intellectual, diplomatic literary and courtly stages in the life of a Renaissance poet from Salamanca, Cristóbal de Castillejo (Ciudad Rodrigo, 1490 – Vienna, 1550), associated with his long stay with the court in Vienna. Th e experiences of this period, oft en referred to by the poet in his writings, which are rooted in various—not only Spanish literatures—and cultures, permit to demonstrate his quality as a magnifi cent and insightful critic of his times, especially with regard to the phenomenon of anti-Petrarchism. Castillejo, the most important representative of the traditionalist poetic reaction is oft en misunderstood, due to incomplete and superfi cial interpretation of his work. In the opinion of the authoress, the reactionary work of Castillejo provides suffi cient arguments for a fair assessment, which are confronted with the views of the contemporary literary criticism.
