La enfermedad “extraordinaria” como noticia en las relaciones de sucesos : estructuras lingüísticas y estrategias discursivas

Abstract

Este estudio tiene como finalidad acometer un análisis histórico del tratamiento informativo de la enfermedad en épocas pasadas con el objetivo de establecer cómo el proceso de conversión de un hecho en bruto en acontecimiento mediático manifiesta en su evolución una determinada construcción discursiva de la salud y de la enfermedad, materializada en estrategias lingüísticas que varían de una época a otra. Para ello, se ha seleccionado del Fondo antiguo de la Universidad de Sevilla un corpus de relaciones de sucesos pertenecientes al siglo XVII, que abordan el carácter extraordinario de una enfermedad, deteniéndose en la descripción pormenorizada de los síntomas. Las estructuras lingüísticas que aparecen en los textos que constituyen el corpus están determinadas por la finalidad discursiva que estos persiguen: relatar un acontecimiento insólito ajeno a la normalidad de la vida cotidiana con un objetivo social ejemplarizante.

This study aims at undertaking a historical analysis of the news coverage of the disease in the past with the purpose of establishing how the process of converting a raw fact into a news event manifests, in its evolution, a particular discursive construction about health and disease, embodied in language strategies that vary from one period to another. To this end, we have selected a corpus of relations of events belonging to the seventeenth century from the old Fund of the University of Seville, which address the unique nature of a disease, focusing on the detailed description of the symptoms. The linguistic structures that appear in the texts constituting the corpus are determined by the discursive purpose that these fold: to relate an unusual event outside the normal daily life with an exemplary social objective
