dc.description.abstract	En la evolución de los pueblos hay sucesos que escapan a su control, nos referimos a fenómenos climáticos y telúricos que al afectar al ser humano se pueden transformar en verdaderas catástrofes. El presente artículo cobra importancia si se considera que en Chile los terremotos son un fenómeno frecuente y precisamente por ello los santiaguinos han sucumbido a su dominio, ejerciendo una influencia omnímoda en la forma de construir y de habitar la ciudad.	es
dc.description.abstract	In the evolution of human societies there are events that escape their control, namely, the climatic and telluric phenomena that affect human beings and become real catastrophes. The present article stresses the fact that in Chile earthquakes are so frequent a phenomenon that the santiaguinos have succumbed to their domain, subdued by their absolute influence in the architectural forms and their way of life.	es
