A través del proceder de estas empresas podemos apreciar la articulación del comercio regional caribeño en un escenario de luchas y conflictos imperiales por el control del comercio americano. Especialmente, analizamos las actuaciones corsarias españolas tras la pérdida del monopolio mercantil en el Caribe luego del tratado de Utrecht.This article analyses the role played by privateer companies in the Caribbean Sea in the 18th century. Through the actions of their companies, we can appreciate the articulation of regional Caribbean trade in a scenario of imperial struggles and conflicts for the control of American trade.
