Han surgido figuras de profesionales sanitarios que divulgan información demostrada científicamente, aunque es importante confirmar la información en fuentes oficiales. Objetivo: Conocer el uso de padres y madres en las redes sociales que difunden material de información en odontopediatría. Resultados: Los resultados confirman que casi todas las personas utilizan las redes sociales, y son muchas las que buscan información sobre la salud oral, pero también nos indican que el conocimiento de odontopediatría en la sociedad es bajo. Tras analizar los resultados se observó que aquellas personas con más de un hijo tenían más conocimiento de la odontopediatría, presentando una relación estadísticamente significativa (P = 0,041), y en general, fue significativo el conocimiento sobre la materia que tenían las personas encuestadas ( P = 0,034). También se ha demostrado que son las mujeres mayoritariamente las que están de acuerdo con la divulgación en redes sociales sobre odontopediatría (P = 0,026), siendo también significativo que, aunque sean muchas las personas que están de acuerdo con la divulgación en redes, pocas siguen a profesionales de la salud que hablen de este tema (P = 0,057). Conclusiones: Como conclusiones, se ha podido ver que tanto el conocimiento de la odontopediatría en la sociedad, así como la búsqueda de información en internet sobre esta materia es baja, siendo las madres las más implicadas en el uso de las redes sociales y la búsqueda de información sobre odontopediatría. Sin embargo, es necesario que la información divulgada sea adecuada y esté controlada por parte de Odontopediatras y Sociedades Científicas evitando así errores y bulos.Introduction: Internet and social networks have become a place to go to answer questions about health, including Dentistry.
