Ziel dieses Beitrags ist es anhand der Auswertung einer Befragung am Institut für Angewandte Linguistik der Adam-Mickiewicz-Universität Poznań zu illustrieren, was polnische Studierende, die Deutsch als Erst- oder Zweitsprache wählten, zur Studienwahl bewog und was sie während des Studiums motiviert. Bei der Auswertung der Antworten des 3. Studienjahres BA und des 1. Studienjahres MA erwies sich, dass zwar bei der Studienwahl berufsorientierte Motive deutlich dominierten und intrinsische Motive eine geringere Rolle spielten, letztere aber dennoch relevant warenSince 1996, German is an important foreign language in Poland, second only to English, being taught both in schools as well as in language courses for adults. The article investigates the motives of Polish university students of Applied Linguistics who have chosen German as one of their main two languages. The students’ motives for choosing German and their motivation while studying German as a foreign language were examined by evaluating a survey conducted at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
