The latter algorithm is not intended to replace AES, but to be used in resource-constrained devices such as IoT devices that may store and share sensitive information. Both algorithms are explained in terms of the data they process and their building blocks. Finally, a comparison is made between the hardware implementation of a variant of the ASCON algorithm suite, the AES algorithm, and the AES using the Galois Counter Mode, showing that the ASCON suite is more suitable for its implementation in resource-constrained devices with an average reduction in LUTs of 33.87% compared to the other two alternativesapplication/pdf6engAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internacionalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/AEADNISTLightweight CryptographyAESStudy and applications of the new NIST lightweight encryption with authentication standard in hardware implementationsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/conferenceObjectinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess
