En esta revisión se han analizado los distintos métodos para la estimación de la edad y cómo las distintas variables, como estatus socio-económico, la raza, el sexo, posición del tercer molar y ubicación del tercer molar, pueden influir en su valoración.The estimation of age through the study of the third molar has been growing in recent years due to the increase in immigration (this is an increasingly frequent occurrence in the Courts and Tribunals) and the growing number of corpses and human remains identified due to the greater frequency of war and natural catastrophes.
