Podría afirmarse que en España nos encontramos en un punto previo de la discusión. Aquí todavía se dirime si hubo o no colonización, si se manifiesta en los museos y si toda esta cuestión es un asunto científico o si es fruto de la coyuntura política. Ahora bien, al mismo tiempo, la pregunta sobre cómo descolonizar se pone sobre la mesa con frecuencia y también trata de responderse. Este debate que hemos dibujado se está dando en la España de los últimos años. Y la polémica se intensifica en determinados momentos, con las intervenciones de políticos/as, periodistas, y académicos/as, de las que queda registro en la prensa, y que tomaremos como fuente primaria. Consideramos que suponer que las implicaciones del debate se restringen a lo enunciado sería reduccionista, ya que son mucho más ricas y están relacionadas con la imbricación entre ciencia y política, y más particularmente con la contribución del antiguo colonialismo americano a la identidad nacional española.The question “how to decolonize a museum?” implies that it has been assumed that it is convenient, or even necessary, to do so. This debate that we have described has been taking place in Spain in recent years. And the controversy intensifies at certain times, with the interventions of politicians, journalists, and academics, which are recorded in the press, and which we will take as a primary source.
