El conocimiento de la distribución funcional de este importante edificio de Sevilla, de sus estancias principales, de sus fachadas y accesos, ha revela-do el carácter orgánico de su evolución constructiva, adaptándose a las necesidades que requería la institución en cada momento, así como la naturaleza permeable de su relación con el entorno urbano, capaz de enlazar el edificio con el sistema de espacios públicos de la ciudad.This article reconstructs the place that served as an economic and social nexus between Europe and America during the 16th and 17th centuries.
