Si bien una vez este otro fue el animal, el desarrollo tecnológico ha hecho surgir a un “otro” hasta ahora desconocido: el robot. Surge entonces la pregunta de si hay alguna característica humana que pueda ser clave para la distinción entre el humano y el androide, y si así fuera, si este papel puede ser ostentado por la emoción, más concretamente, por la expresión de la emoción. Para intentar dilucidarlo vamos a realizar un recorrido a través de diversas teorías de la emoción para luego centrarnos en la concepción que tiene Mitchell Green de la autoexpresión. Posteriormente contrastaremos esta propuesta con las de Rowland Stout y David Velleman para intentar dar respuesta a la pregunta planteada. Finalmente veremos cómo las emociones constituyen un punto de encuentro entre las diversas dimensiones del ser humano de la mano de Rodríguez Valls.Human beings have always tried to make a definition of their essence by differentiating themselves form ‘others’. Long time ago this ‘other’ was the animal but nowadays the technological development has given birth to an “other” so far unknown: the robot. This appearance makes us wonder whether there is a distinctive human characteristic which can help us differentiate human form droids, and if it is the case, if emotion, emotion expression specifically, can play this role adequately. In a try to elucidate this problem, we will enquire into the main emotions theories and then pay special attention to Mitchell Green’s view about self-expression. Subsequently, we will compare Green’s perspective with those from Rowland Stout and David Velleman in a try to answer the question we have just raised.
