Se exploran las ca racterísticas narrativas y discursivas de distintos géneros telecinematográficos, con el fin de establecer una clasi ficación basada en la complejidad lingüística y la estruc tura narrativa de las series, y su idoneidad para los dife rentes niveles de competencia comunicativa. Se examina la relevancia de factores como el género, el tipo de diá logos y la semántica visual, destacando la necesidad de seleccionar series que equilibren estos elementos para facilitar la comprensión y motivación de los estudiantes. A partir de una revisión teórica sobre el concepto de género y el análisis de varios subgéneros, se ofrecen recomen daciones específicas sobre qué tipos de series resultan más apropiados para niveles iniciales hasta avanzados, considerando aspectos como el ritmo del lenguaje, la complejidad narrativa y el uso de jergas profesionales. La propuesta incluye también una guía para el análisis individual de series, que ayudará a docentes y discentes a elegir material audiovisual que favorezca el aprendizaje efectivo de la lengua meta.The article presents a detailed analysis of the suitability of television series as a didactic resource for teaching fo reign languages. It explores the narrative and discursive characteristics of various telecinematic genres to establish a classification based on the linguistic complexity and na rrative structure of the series, and their appropriateness for different levels of communicative competence. The study examines the importance of factors such as gen re, type of dialogues, and visual semantics, emphasising the need to select series that balance these elements to enhance student comprehension and motivation. Drawing on a theoretical review of genre and an analysis of seve ral subgenres, specific recommendations are provided on which types of series are most suitable for learners from beginner to advanced levels, considering aspects such as language pace, narrative complexity, and the use of specialised jargon. The proposal also includes a guide for the individual analysis of series, which will assist teachers and learners in selecting audiovisual material that effecti vely supports language acquisition.
