Eso permite obviar la incidencia del visualismo en la descripción etnográfica, sea esta textual o visual, y en la construcción del conocimiento antropológico. El visualismo erige al ojo en el órgano por excelencia para captar el mundo, objetivarlo y representarlo. Las teóricas feministas desvelarán las consecuencias epistemológicas y políticas de que ese ojo que mira y que, a partir de su mirada, produce representaciones canónicas sobre el mundo y sobre los Otros, haya sido el de un sujeto masculino occidental.Anthropology, which considers observation as its constitutive method and technique, avoids reflecting on the gaze. This makes possible to ignore the impact of visualism in ethnographic description, whether textual or visual, and in the construction of anthropological knowledge. Visualism establishes the eye as the organ par excellence for capturing the world, objectifying and representing it.
