A partir da hipótese de que na Primeira República, no Rio Grande do Sul, houve uma hegemonia social e política do Partido Republicano Rio-Grandense se quer investigar como a obra de Varella articulou-se com o seu contexto. Portanto, o objetivo é analisar como foi construída a narrativa sobre a Farroupilha no contexto de disputas em torno do borgismo. Para atingir tal objetivo, usa-se o conceito de operação historiográfica de Michel de Certeau, isto é, como a partir de uma análise do lugar social, da prática científica e da escrita do texto podem-se perceber as transformações na escrita da história sobre a Farroupilha. Por fim, percebe-se que a obra analisada foi um objeto tanto de luta política como de virada interpretativa na escrita da Farroupilha.This paper examines how the historiographical work Revoluções Cisplatinas, 1915, by the politician, diplomat and historian Alfredo Augusto Varella, represents both a political dispute and a form of history writing about the Farroupilha. From the hypothesis that in the First Republic, in Rio Grande do Sul, there was a social and political hegemony of the PRR, we want to investigate how Varella's work articulated with its context. Therefore, the aim is to analyse how the narrative about Farroupilha was constructed in the context of disputes around borgismo. To achieve this goal, the concept of historiographical operation of Michel de Certeau is used, that is, how from an analysis of the social place, the scientific practice and the writing of the text one can perceive the transformations in the writing of history about the Farroupilha.
