La obra es iniciada por Agustín de Medina y Flores en 1759. Tras la muerte de éste al año siguiente, intervienen sucesivamente los maestros Alejandro Román y Juan de Olarte, así como el escultor Diego Roldán. En 1772 el retablo es concluido por Andrés Marín, autor también del trono que preside el camarín.The construction process of the altarpiece of the main altar of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Palomares in Trebujena (Cádiz) is documented. The work was started by Agustín de Medina y Flores in 1759. After his death the following year, the masters Alejandro Román and Juan de Olarte, as well as the sculptor Diego Roldán, intervened successively in the work.
