A medida que estas celebraciones han ido cambiando, se han ido añadiendo cuestiones a considerar como la sostenibilidad. Debido al problema del cambio climático, la sostenibilidad es un factor muy importante a tener en cuenta a la hora de diseñar y construir las viviendas. En este contexto, se van a celebrar competiciones internacionales como el Solar Decathlon, cuyo fin es lograr la construcción de viviendas sostenibles. Se trata de un concurso originario de Estados Unidos en 2002, que se ha expandido internacionalmente a Europa, China, Latinoamérica y Medio Oriente. Los equipos, compuestos por profesores y estudiantes de diferentes disciplinas, son los encargados de diseñar y construir un prototipo de vivienda sostenible. Las propuestas son evaluadas por un jurado de expertos, resultado ganador aquel que combine de la mejor manera las diez categorías evaluadas. Se estudiarán cinco prototipos correspondientes a los ganadores de las ediciones de Europa 2012, Latino América y Caribe 2015 y, finalmente, Estados Unidos 2017. Para realizar el análisis de las envolventes de los proyectos elegidos se plantearán tres grandes grupos a estudiar: sistemas constructivos, calidad ambiental interior y comportamiento a largo plazo. De este modo, se obtendrá una comparativa entre los diferentes prototipos con el fin de obtener una serie de conclusiones. Como resultado del análisis, la envolvente arquitectónica puede definirse como un sistema funcional, espacial, constructivo, formal y simbólico que está formado por un conjunto de elementos que se complementan los unos a los otros.Both the exhibitions and the competitions have taken a parallel path, being used in order to show the progress made and contributing to the spread of knowledge around the world. In this way, innovation in new technologies, the development of new construction techniques and the introduction of new materials have produced a renewal of architecture throughout history. As these celebrations have changed, they have added questions to consider as sustainability. Because of to the problem of climate change, sustainability is a very important factor to take into account when designing and building homes. In this context, international competitions will be held such as the Solar Decathlon, whose aim is to achieve the construction of sustainable housing. It is a contest originally from the United States in 2002, which has expanded internationally to Europe, China, Latin America and the Middle East. The teams, made up of professors and students from different disciplines, are responsible for designing and building a sustainable housing prototype. The proposals are evaluated by a jury of experts, a winning result that combines in the best way the ten evaluated categories. Then, five corresponding prototypes will be studied, the winners of the editions of Europe 2012, Latin America and the Caribbean 2015 and, finally, the United States 2017. To carry out the analysis of the envelopes of the chosen projects, three major groups will be studied: construction systems, interior environmental quality and long-term behaviour. In this way, a comparison between the different prototypes will be obtained in order to obtain a series of conclusions.
