Su etiología es desconocida, originándose como consecuencia de una interacción de factores ambientales y genéticos. El tratamiento medicamentoso, basado en inhaladores, tiene un impacto negativo en la cavidad oral. Objetivos: Conocer las repercusiones orales del asma y su tratamiento. Método: Revisión bibliográfica, utilizando las distintas bases de datos: pubmed, google académico, scopus y se consultaron web de pediatría y libros de consulta. Resultados: Se demuestra que el uso de medicación para el asma junto con otros factores influye en la cavidad oral, dando lugar a alteraciones como la erosión, caries dental, gingivitis, halitosis, candidiasis y xerostomía. Conclusiones: Los niños que sufren de asma van a presentar alteraciones orales, sino cumplen recomendaciones higienico-dietéticas, enfatizando la necesidad de abordaje multidisciplinar, así como contar con programas educativo-preventivos.Background: Bronchial asthma is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases in childhood, Its etiology is unknown, originating as a consequence of an interaction of environmental and genetic factors.
