Pretendo demostrar que es un mecanismo que sirve al propósito de orientar el pensamiento y la conducta de los interlocutores. Me centro en el estudio de este fenómeno en el discurso político, pues, al ser marcadamente argumentativo y tener un objetivo claro (convencer y persuadir), la ironía es un recurso altamente efectivo. Pero he apreciado que, tal vez por la presión de los medios de comunicación, verdaderos intermediarios entre el político y el ciudadano, no es excesivamente utilizado, al tener que ser reinterpretadoThis paper deals with the irony from the argumentation perspective. I try to prove that this is a linguistic mechanism with the aim of directing the interlocutors opinions and acts. I centre the work in the study of this phenomenon when is used in the political discourse, because, provided that this is a markedly argumentative discoursive type with a clear objective (convincing and persuasion), the irony is a highly effective resource.
