Firstly, through the review of the existing literature, a survey is conducted on the consumption habits of elec- tronic books and other series of questions related to social and psy- chological factors on noncompliance with the law. Secondly, the mentioned survey was carried out to 404 consumers for the construc- tion of an ad hoc database. Afterwards, a binomial econometric model is used with these data. The results indicate that the social environ- ment and the crime neutralization mechanisms play a fundamental role in the probability of incurring in the illegal download of elec- tronic books. Other factors such as the perception of the risk of being sanctioned or persecuted are not significant. The article contributes, with data, to the potential design of policies related to piracy within the book sector.application/pdf12 p.engAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Ebookpiracysurveyneutralizationsociological factorsDeterminants of Illegal Electronic Books Download in Spaininfo:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/embargoedAccesshttps://doi.org/10.1080/10632921.2024.2310864
