Distintos autores muestran una interpretación que convierte a la Eneida en un símbolo del viaje emprendido por Virgilio desde la épica homérica a la romana: en este sentido, la imagen del arado (arare) manifiesta el deseo de emprender un nuevo camino poético, en un contexto profético y fundacional. Finalmente analizamos la fortuna de este tópico en autores de todas las épocas.The travel of Aeneas from Troy to Rome exemplifies properly the motif of the literary journey, a topic generalized in Augustan age. Some scholars have shown an interpretation which makes this poem a symbol of the journey followed by Virgil from the Homeric to the Roman epic: in this sense, the image of plowing (arare) expresses the desire to travel towards a new poetic path, in a prophetic and foundational contex.
