Aquí se comparan diversas pinturas (convento de Santa Clara, de Carmona; Carmen Calzado, de Córdoba; y Los desposorios de la Virgen y San José, de la catedral de Sevilla) con textos teatrales contemporáneos. También se analiza la participación de Valdés Leal en el programa iconográfico de la iglesia del Hospital de la Santa Caridad, de Sevilla.The life of the painter Valdés Leal coincided with the moment of greatest splendor of painting and the theater of the so-called Spanish “Golden Age”. The abundant pictorial production of Valdés conforms, at the same time that it reflects, this extraordinary time. Among his production, as in that of any other Sevillian painter of that time, there are abundant examples that allow us to compare the painted images with what could be seen on the theater stages of his century. Here various paintings are compared (the convent of Santa Clara, from Carmona; Carmen Calzado, from Córdoba; and The Betrothal of the Virgin and Saint Joseph, from Seville Cathedral) with contemporary theatrical texts.
