Escrito en una lengua vernácula norteafricana (lissan franji tinja), escenifica el tema denotado en el título a través de diálogos entre personajes históricos y pertenecientes a las comunidades judía y cristiana, minoritarias en el Marruecos de principios del siglo XX. El análisis desde la literatura comparada de los tres elementos esenciales del dialogo -invención, disposición y articulación retórica- presentes en la estructura compositiva del cuento (de)muestra su doble función de docere et delectare y revela su función como método pedagógico de promoción de la educación en igualdad de derechos entre hombres y mujeres, en línea con la formación educativa promovida por dicha institución.The tale ‘Le sortilège’ (‘The Spell’) is the product of a hybridization between the no-vella, the qiṣṣa fāsīya, the racconto and the tardo Cinquecento quasi-documentarydia-logue. Written in a vernacular North African language (Lissan Franji Tinja), the story pays homage to the humanist values of the Alliance Israélite Universelle and stages the theme in the title in a dialogue between historical in-terlocutors, both men and women, from two early 20th-century minority communities in Morocco, the Jews and the Christians.
