Esta historia está narrada en primera persona a través de una asistenta de ayuda a domicilio al cuidado de personas con sida. Aborda un asunto tan importante como es el sida en los años 90, una época en la que esta enfermedad era la primera causa de muerte entre la población. La traducción se acompañará de un aparato crítico, que sitúa a la autora y su obra en el contexto de la cultural original y que también incluye un análisis traductológico. En este sentido, se analizarán aquellos problemas que han ido surgiendo en la labor de traducción y cómo se han resuelto y a través de qué procedimientos. Para ello se considerarán en distintos aspectos: morfosintáctico, léxico, pragmático, ortográfico y ortotipográfico.The main objective of this project is to do a partial translation of the novel The Gifts of the Body. It was written by Rebecca Brown and published by HarperCollins in 1994. This story is narrated in the first person through a home health aide to people with AIDS. It deals with the important topic of AIDS in the 1990s, a time when the disease was the leading cause of death among the population. The translation will be accompanied by a critical apparatus, which contextualises the author and her work within the source culture and also includes a translation analysis. The latter will deal with those problems that have arisen throughout the translation process, how they have been solved and by means of which techniques.
