En la introducción se relaciona el uso particular que hace Pitol de la intertextualidad, junto a otras características de su narrativa, con la denominada «literatura postmoderna», y se defiende que para llevar a cabo una investigación intertextual exhaustiva debe partirse de una restricción teórica del concepto, de modo que sea posible su operatividad crítica. Se ilustran estas ideas con el comentario de «Nocturno de Bujara», centrándose el análisis en los dos textos que se consideran fundamentales en el significado y el desarrollo del cuento: Las mil y una noches y "El breve tratado de erotismo" de Jan Kott.The present article analyzes the function of the intertextuality in Sergio Pitol’s short narrative and demonstrates how the author manages to expand the meaningful and connotative character of his short stories through the textual polyphony. In the introduction, the special use of Pitol’s intertextuality and other characteristics of his narrative are related to the so-called «postmodern literature», and the idea is proposed that an exhaustive intertextual research requires a theoretical restriction of the concept to increase its efficiency.
