Aquel que se haya aproximado a su obra, conocerá que el autor luso no maneja una teoría del genio como tal, sino que, en base a sus conocimientos literarios y psicológicos, ofrece una serie de observaciones sobre la naturaleza del genio, la locura y la conexión intrínseca entre ambos que dotan, aún más si puede, de una controversia a la pregunta fundamental sobre ¿Qué es un genio? De esta manera la investigación no radica en decidir quién fue un genio. Más bien, se procura abrir el campo especulativo hacia qué clase de individuo es el genio, cómo se configura y llega a convertirse en dicha figura, y con ello problematizar otras cuestiones ocultas en los intentos por definirlo, como la noción de normalidad y anormalidad, así como, las definiciones de salud y enfermedad. En base a esto, el trabajo consiste en destapar las relaciones establecidas por Pessoa entre el genio y la locura, a partir de la siguiente cuestión: ¿Cuál es la naturaleza psíquica de aquellos que han sido considerados como genios?Through this document, it is intended to expose the conception of the genius of the poet Fernando Pessoa. Anyone who has come close to his work will know that the Portuguese author does not handle a theory of genius as such, but rather, based on his literary and psychological knowledge, offers a series of observations on the nature of genius, madness and the intrinsic connection between the two that provide, even more if possible, a controversy to the fundamental question about what is a genius? In this way the investigation does not lie in deciding who was a genius.
