En el terreno fértil de posmodernidad relativista y de narrativas contrahegemónicas, hay que deshacer dicotomías artificialmente construidas y fácilmente manipulables. En este trabajo se justificará por qué el populismo es una amenaza para la construcción cosmopolita y se reflejarán los aspectos que separan al populismo del proyecto cosmopolita. A partir de uno de los subtipos del populismo, el punitivo, se examinará la problemática que suscita su aplicación a dos de las vertientes del identitarismo como son las cuestiones relativas al género (sexo) y a la idiosincrasia nacional (frente a “los otros”). Se justificará cómo el cosmopolitismo, lejos de negar tales cuestiones identitarias, lo que hace es trabajar con ellas de forma distinta.The pernicious influence that populism has on numerous constructions tends to also extend to cosmopolitanism. In the fertile terrain of relativist postmodernity and counterhegemonic narratives, artificially constructed and easily manipulated dichotomies must be undone. This work will justify why populism is a threat to the cosmopolitan construction and will reflect the aspects that separate populism from the cosmopolitan project. Starting from one of the subtypes of populism, punitive, the problems raised by its application to two of the aspects of identitarianism will be examined, such as issues related to gender (sex) and national idiosyncrasy (versus “the others”).
