Through the study of a masterpiece of White Ballet, I analyse the relationship between gender and representation and its place in the (re)production of the sociosexual imaginary. From a trandisciplinary perspective I highlight the narrative and enunciative mechanisms that produce the opposition between active masculinity and passive feminity in the representation and extend the ethical question to the choreografic text. The subject that emerges thus is a gendered one, one which is socio historically situated, and which confronts us with the fundamental ambivalance of the phallocentric unconscious as to the image of the castrated woman. Feminity appears as a figure for the sexual dilemma of the modern subject. |
