En el nombre del abuelo. Representación y reinterpretación de los lazos filiales en Saint Seiya

Abstract

La conformación de esquemas de parentesco entre diversos entes de naturaleza divina resultó una táctica de lo más fructífera a la hora de construir los panteones de múltiples civilizaciones de la Antigüedad. Entre ellos, los entramados mitológicos helénico y nipón, que compartirán una serie de rasgos centrales en la concepción de sus respectivas “familias sagradas”. De esta manera, basados en semejante cercanía tipológica, un importante número de objetos de la cultura popular del archipiélago harán uso de ella para fundamentar muchos elementos axiales de sus respectivas tramas. En este trabajo abordaremos el manga Saint Seiya. Así, intentaremos demostrar la clase de vínculos puestos en juego y los mitologemas que los sustentan para proponer y justificar una interpretación más cercana a la “comunidad imaginada” no estrictamente filial en torno a la divinidad, como entendemos lo ha hecho Atenea en sus sucesivas encarnaciones.

Conformation of parental schemes between different entities of divine nature has been a very fruitful tactic to build the pantheons of a high number of ancient civilizations. Between them we can point out the intricate Hellenic mythology and the Japanese one, which share a series of core features in the conception of their respective “holy families”. Based on such typological closeness, an important number of objects of the archipelago's popular culture use it to support many axial elements of its respective plots. In this article we will focus on the manga Saint Seiya. Thus, we will attempt to demonstrate the kind of ties that it shows and the mythologems that sustain such linkages to propose and justify an interpretation closest to the “imagined community” not strictly filial around the divinity, as we understand Athena has done in her successive incarnations.
