Analysis of two works belonging to two very current and acclaimed authors (Spike Lee and Lars von Trier) in one of the most consumed fields, the audiovisual. After talking about what the films are about and the messages they convey, we will see the relationship and repercussion that the context of each author has had on his works and, consequently, on their way of telling them. To better observe the differences, we have resorted to two films (BlacKkKlansman, 2018 and Manderlay, 2005) that address a common theme (racism), and will be expanded with other examples at the end of the paper. It will be sought to find, from more accessible and well-known examples, an opinion on whether work and artist can be separated or if, on the contrary, the analysis invites us to think that they are closer to not being able to do so. |
