Conjunto de Datos Dataset de la adaptación transcultural de SENSE-S(2026) Borda Mas, María de las Mercedes; Chacón, Antonio; Chamorro Moriana, Gema; Rivera de los Santos, Francisco José; Ridao Fernández, María Del Carmen; Sánchez Fernández, Magdalena; Almeda, Nerea; Engel-Yeger, Batya; Pérez Chacón, Manuela; Fisioterapia; Personalidad, Evaluación y Tratamiento Psicológicos; Psicología Experimental; Rivera de los Santos, Francisco José; Borda Mas, María de las Mercedes; Borda Mas, María de las Mercedes; CTS305: Área de Fisioterapia; CTS432: Intervención Clínica en Medicina Comportamental y Psicología de la SaludSensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS) has been associated with individual differences in psychological adaptation, health, and everyday functioning. The aim of the present study was to adapt the Sensory Sensitivity and Sensory Modulation Experiences Scale (SENSE-S) into Spanish and examine its psychometric properties in an adult population. A total of 603 adults completed the Spanish version of the SENSE-S along with measures of sensory processing sensitivity, central sensitization, interpersonal sensitivity, relational vulnerability, and maladaptive personality traits. Internal consistency, temporal stability, structural validity, convergent and discriminant validity, and known-groups validity were evaluated. The results supported the reliability and validity of the Spanish version of the instrument. Confirmatory factor analyses indicated that a two-factor structure, comprising Arousability - Avoidance and Awareness of Subtleties, provided a more parsimonious and conceptually differentiated representation of the construct. Arousability - Avoidance showed stronger associations with sensory overstimulation, central sensitization, relational vulnerability, maladaptive personality traits, and chronic medical conditions, whereas Awareness of Subtleties was primarily associated with the perception of subtle stimuli and aesthetic sensitivity. Overall, the findings support the usefulness of the SENSE-S for assessing sensory sensitivity and sensory modulation experiences in adults and contribute to a more differentiated understanding of SPS. The results suggest that sensory modulation difficulties may play a more relevant role than perceptual sensitivity in understanding individual differences in health, adaptation, and everyday functioning.
Conjunto de Datos Dataset of Autonomic Nervous System Modulation in Bruxism Patients Through Visceral Manual Therapy(2025-06-16) Navarro Rico, Cayetano; Fricke Comellas, Hermann Wolfgang; Heredia Rizo, Alberto Marcos; Díaz Mancha, Juan Antonio; Rosado Portillo, Adolfo; Fernández Seguín, Lourdes María; Fisioterapia; Fernández Seguín, Lourdes María; Navarro Rico, Cayetano; Fernández Seguín, Lourdes María; CTS1110: Understanding Movement & Self in Health from ScienceBruxism is a repetitive activity in the masticatory muscles characterised by clenching or grinding of the teeth and/or stiffening or thrusting of the mandible, associated with dysregulation of autonomic nervous system activity and with changes in muscle tone and pressure pain threshold. Visceral manual therapy (VMT) has shown effects on vagal tone and autonomic nervous system modulation; however, its impact on patients with bruxism has not been studied. This study evaluated the effects of VMT on the autonomic nervous system in individuals with bruxism and whether these effects are accompanied by changes in muscle tone and pressure pain threshold of the masticatory muscles. Methods: A single-blind randomized clinical trial was conducted with 24 subjects diagnosed with “probable bruxism.” Participants were divided into an experimental group, which received VMT applied to the epigastric region, and a control group, which received a placebo technique. Variables measured included heart rate variability (HRV), normal-to-normal interval (SDNN), root mean square differences of successive normal-to-normal intervals (RMSSD), myotonometry of the masseter muscles and pressure pain threshold (PPT) measured at C4, masseter, and temporalis muscles. A repeated-measures ANOVA was used to analyze the effects of the intervention. Results: A significant time × group interaction was observed in HRV-SDNN (p = 0.04, η² = 0.12), suggesting a positive effect of VMT on autonomic regulation. Although HRV-RMSSD did not show long-term changes, significant variations were observed during the first session. No relevant changes were found in myotonometry, while PPT results showed hypoalgesic effects at C4 in the second measurement (p = 0.049, η² = 0.16) and at the left temporalis muscle in the first measurement (p = 0.01, η² = 0.07). Conclusion: VMT appears to modulate vagal tone and improve sympathovagal balance in patients with bruxism, although no significant changes were observed in muscle tone or in most PPT variables. However, the localized hypoalgesic response at C4 and the left temporalis muscle suggests a potential pain-modulating effect. Further studies are needed to clarify the clinical relevance of these effects and their potential application in the management of bruxism.
Conjunto de Datos Dataset of Impact of Whole-Body Vibration on Thoracic Kyphosis and Muscle Properties in Parkinson's Disease: A Randomized Controlled Trial(2025) González García, Paula; García-Bernal, María-Isabel; Fisioterapia; González García, Paula; Fernández Seguín, Lourdes María; Heredia Rizo, Alberto Marcos; CTS1043: Salud, Fisioterapia y Actividad Física; CTS1110: Understanding Movement & Self in Health from ScienceBackground: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that significantly impacts gait, balance, and postural control, leading to thoracic kyphosis and impaired mobility. Whole-body vibration (WBV) has emerged as a potential rehabilitative approach, but its effects on muscle tone and thoracic kyphosis in PD patients remain underexplored. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the immediate and short-term effects of an 8-week WBV training program combined with usual care on thoracic kyphosis, trunk muscle tone, stiffness, elasticity, and gait functionality in individuals with PD. Methods: A parallel randomized controlled trial was conducted with 46 PD patients, randomly assigned to either a real WBV group or a sham WBV group. Participants underwent two treatment sessions weekly, including usual therapy followed by real or sham WBV. Primary outcomes included thoracic kyphosis measured using the Goniometer-Pro app and viscoelastic muscle properties assessed with the MyotonPRO device. Secondary outcomes included the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test. Measurements were taken at baseline, immediately post-intervention, and after a 12-week follow-up. Results: The real WBV group showed a significant reduction in thoracic kyphosis and improvements in muscle tone, stiffness, and elasticity, particularly in the lumbo-thoracic spine. No significant changes were observed in the TUG test. The sham WBV group exhibited some improvements, likely due to placebo effects. Conclusions: WBV combined with usual therapy can enhance postural control and muscle properties in PD patients, particularly in the lower spine. These findings suggest WBV as a beneficial complementary therapy for PD, though high dropout rates should be considered in future studies.
