Estaciones de ferrocarril. Arquitecturas de Síntesis

Abstract

En los primeros momentos de la modernidad, el ferrocarril recoge algunos de los cam- bios esenciales que ésta lleva consigo. El tren, tan determinante en la formación de la ciudad moderna, concentra en la estación gran parte de sus valores, materializándolos en un edificio. La conexión, la velocidad, la heterogeneidad, la dialéctica que introduce el progreso, se encuentran en la estación con valores tradicionales del espacio público como la representatividad y lo lúdico. Los conflictos generados por el modernismo tienen una lectura continua en un edificio como la estación de ferrocarril. Este edificio ofrece claves para entender los orígenes de la modernidad y, actualmente, posibilita un análisis de la evolución concerniente a ésta a finales del siglo XX.

In the first moments of the modernity, the railroad gathers some of the essential changes that this one takes with it. The train, so determinant in the formation of the modern city, concentrates on the station great part of his values, materializing them in a building. The connection, the speed, the heterogeneity, the dialectics that introduces the progress, meet on the station traditional values of the public space as the representation and the playful thing. The conflicts generated by the modernism have a constant reading in a building as the railway station. This building offers key to understand the origins of the modernity and, nowadays, it makes possible an analysis of the evolution relating to this one at the end of the 20th century.
